Here I am hamming it up with Christy, a stage 3 colorectal survivor that was diagnosed at 38. The energy this woman exudes is freaking glorious. Much thanx Jennifer for connecting us.

Hi
I just happened upon this website with a connection to a Colon Cancer Survivor (Christy) also from Maine.
I was diagnosed in April, 2012 with Stage 4 Colorectal Cancer with metastasis to the liver. This is when I was 58. It was my first colonoscopy that they could not even due because of location/size of tumor
Over the next 13 months I had the full scope of treatments, including 4 surgeries first focused on the large liver mass. I underwent a chemo for 24 weeks and 28 days of chemo and radiation combined. My treatments ended in May, 2013 I was very fortunate to have no underlying medical issues and was able to keep working during this entire time.
Ironically, I’ve worked in Health Care for over 40 hrs an I am a Vice President at Southern Maine Health Care.
When diagnosed the odds given to me were not to good with less than 20% to go 2 years and not to really think of 5 years. My next series of CT, blood work etc. in April will be my (3) year mark. My quarterly check ups over the last 2 years have been “normal” with no sign of recurrance.
I’m just reviewing this site and getting an idea of what your mission and goals are.
I’m looking to see when you might head to Maine again.
I am very active with a weekly cancer support group in Portland, ME, that meets weekly.
Bye for now
Steve
